Uluṟu base walk emergency repairs progressing well
The first stage of emergency repairs to the Uluṟu base walk is now complete.
Works around Muṯitjulu Waterhole, and between Kuniya Carpark and Kuniya Piṯi are finished, and progress has been made in other sections of the track.
The walking trail sustained damage during heavy rains and flooding earlier this year, leaving large areas of washouts and potholes in some sections.
The second and final stage of repairs, which will include the Mala and Lungkaṯa walks, will begin in early June and is expected to take about 2 weeks.
As with the first stage of works, temporary diversions and signage will be in place at times, and our team will be on the ground to support where possible.
The Mala walk will largely stay open throughout repairs, though small sections of the trail and some caves may be closed for short periods.
As always, please take care while using our walking tracks:
- Wear sturdy, comfortable footwear.
- Watch your step, be mindful of trip hazards and take your time.
- Stay on marked tracks and paths and follow any temporary diversions that are in place.
Thank you for your patience as we work to make the Uluṟu base walk a safer and more enjoyable experience for everyone.
