Park closure

Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park will be closed until 2 pm on Thursday 25 June and all day on Friday 26 June due to a funeral and memorial service following the passing of a senior Aṉangu woman. Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park will re-open at 6.30 am on Saturday 27 June.

Getting around Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park is easy.

All roads are sealed, so driving around the park in a normal 2WD vehicle is not a problem.

If you don’t have your own vehicle to get around, you can rent one at the airport, join one of the many bus tours or purchase an Uluṟu hop on hop off bus pass. There are no taxis or other public transport.

Driving times

Some approximate driving times are:

  • Ayers Rock Resort to Uluṟu: 20 minutes
  • Ayers Rock Resort to Kata Tjuṯa: 45 minutes
  • Ayers Rock Resort to Talinguṟu Nyakunytjaku: 30 minutes
  • Ayers Rock Resort to the airport: 10 minutes

Getting around the rock

To explore the base of Uluṟu, you can either drive, cycle, hop on a Segway or see it on foot.

Getting around Ayers Rock Resort and Yulara

Ayers Rock Resort is compact enough to walk around. The resort also offers a free shuttle bus to take you between your accommodation and the town square in Yulara.
