Visitors to Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park can now experience more of the park’s stunning desert landscape than ever before with the launch of a new 5-day walk.

The 54 km Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa Signature Walk offers guests the exclusive opportunity to make the journey on foot between the park’s 2 famous landmarks – and stay in the park overnight.

Developed by the Tasmanian Walking Company in close consultation with Aṉangu, the experience begins at Kata Tjuṯa’s breathtaking Valley of the Winds and finishes at the Cultural Centre.

It represents the only opportunity to stay within the boundaries of the World Heritage-listed national park, with walkers spending 4 nights in exclusive eco-camps and a private lodge along the route.

Director of National Parks, Ricky Archer says the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa Signature Walk provides an outstanding cultural experience for visitors while supporting local employment and community initiatives.

“Aṉangu have been integral in designing the walk, and will receive real benefits from it,” he said.

“At least 20 positions will be created in the first 10 years of operation, and revenue-sharing arrangements are in place that support long-term community and park outcomes.”

Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park Manager, Shaeleigh Swan says the involvement of Traditional Owners from the beginning of the planning process has been vital.

“Aṉangu welcome visitors to experience this place and learn more about our culture and traditions,” she said.

“Very few people apart from Aṉangu have walked this way on Country. This is a special opportunity, and we look forward to our visitors sharing it and creating memories they will carry forever.”

The Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa Signature Walk is a cool-season experience, offered for small groups between May and September.
