Talinguṟu Nyakunytjaku
Talinguṟu Nyakunytjaku is the main sunrise viewing area for Uluṟu. You’ll find the perfect spot among its shelters, viewing platforms and kilometres of walking track.
At dawn, the first rays of sunlight appear over the sand dunes behind the viewing platforms. The sun rises and the rock comes to life as light and shade dance across the ripples on its surface.

Beat the crowds
The Talinguṟu Nyakunytjaku platforms are generally buzzing with excited visitors at dawn. Head off to explore the walking tracks if you prefer a quiet spot.
If you come here for sunset, you’ll have the area almost to yourself.
Talinguṟu Nyakunytjaku’s picnic area is a lovely spot for a meal at any time of day.
Tips for photographers
The sun lights up the rock at dawn and sets next to it at dusk.
Follow the lower track all the way to the second shelter for an uninterrupted shot of Uluṟu and Kata Tjuṯa. This spot lets you compose fantastic sunrise or sunset shots by including a beautiful tree in the frame.
